Our PatronsPeterSculthorpe

The Woollahra Philharmonic Orchestra is honoured to have two very distinguished Australians, Margaret Whitlam OA and Peter Sculthorpe OA OBE, as our patrons.

Peter Sculthorpe
Peter Sculthorpe (pictured right) is one of Australia's finest composers. He is also a long time resident of Woollahra. The orchestra was privileged to give the world premiere performance of his Burke and Wills Suite, an arrangement of music from the1985 film Burke and Wills. The Suite was composed especially for our orchestra. We have also performed Peter's small masterpiece "Small Town" in 2002 and "Port Arthur - In Memoriam" in 2007.

Margaret Whitlam
Margaret Whitlam, also a long time resident in the Woollahra municipality, is a well-renowned supporter of the arts and has been a great cultural ambassador for the country.

Woollahra Council
The Woollahra Philharmonic Orchestra appreciates the long-term support of Woollahra Council.  The Orchestra receives ongoing funding through the Council's Annual Community Grants Program, as well as support for concert promotion.  Our ongoing relationship enables the WPO to contribute to the arts and musical culture in the local community.
