As a regular musician with WPO, apart from the wonderful experience of performing with like minded people, becoming a member allows the orchestra to continue to provide to the community of the Eastern Suburbs a wonderful creative platform. Perform with world class soloists, such as Andrey Gugnin, recently debuted with the London Symphony Orchestra and world renowned clarinetist Dimitri Ashkenazy but to name two. So where does your money go?
On average, the WPO rehearses 10 calls per term, or 40 calls year – not including performances. Broken down, this means your full Adult membership fee costs you less than $5 per call, exceptional value! All the administration of WPO is done free of charge, largely by the committee and other musicians in the WPO who volunteer countless hours of their personal time to the running of the orchestra.

The Woollahra Philharmonic Orchestra is often looking for musicians to join us.
We do not conduct formal auditions, but rather, trail musicians during the course of a term.
There are often vacancies within most sections, however, depending on your instrument, you might need to be placed on a waitlist.
What we require is that you:
* be approximately 7th - 8th grade AMEB standard or above with sound sight reading ability
* prepare/practice your parts in advance of the rehearsal term
* be punctual, and available for at least 80% of the rehearsals and both concerts in the term
* inform us in advance via email of any absences
* help set and pack up each call
*pay the annual membership fee
*complete the WPO Membership form - available upon application.
Membership fees are:
Annual (full): $200 adult, $100 Concession
The Woollahra Philharmonic Orchestra is run voluntarily, so all members are expected to assist where possible.
Eg, by joining the committee or by being assigned duties that help maintain the functionality of the orchestra.
