UNMASKED takes us on into a hidden world of fantastical sounds, of reinvention and discovery as we explore the mystical and captivating 4 dance movements that make up Faure's arrangement of his earlier compositions into the Masque et Bergamasques Suite.
We are delighted to welcome another member of the Pini family to the WPO stage, this time we are lucky enough to have Sebastian Pini join us in the enigmatic Concerto no. 2 for Double Bass by the mysterious composer, Giovanni Bottesini whose score has no surviving orchestral parts in the composers hand.
The WPO is also thrilled to perform the breathtakingly beautiful Symphony by Grieg. With the composer's hand-written note on the cover: “Must never be performed”, for 113 years this remarkable work remained un-played until 1981. We hope Grieg will forgive us, but it's just too good not to be enjoyed!
The WPO is trilled to welcome back Dr Joanna Drimatis to reveal the secrets of this magnificent program. Joanna has had a long association with the Woollahra Philharmonic and she last conducted the WPO in 2016.
